I am really looking forward to the three day weekend! Working today, even though the weather is rough. Rain and wind here in central FL. I made DH drive me to work this morning LOL!

I really hope to finish the two quilts that have been languishing all summer. I am really ready to look at something new.

My friend came over today to continue her sewing lessons. She finished the I spy top, so I taught her how to square it up and add borders. Then for practice with patterns and placement I had her make some fleece socks. We were going to make some doll clothes, but her doll doesn't have a "figure" so I will have to make some adjustments to my Barbie pattern. She is doing very well and has enjoyed the stories I've told her about retreat.

Then I got some quilting on the batik pinwheel quilt done before I had to fix dinner. Hope to get the quilt finished this weekend.

We are watching our GrandDOG tonight and watching our in-state football rivalry game (my alma mater Colorado State and our son's alma mater University of Colorado). My team is getttrying to ing creamed - always makes our son happy. Saturday and Monday we are going to Denver to Taste of Colorado. Lots of good, free music and good food. Sunday will be my sewing day. I need to sort and find fabrics for the 2017 Block lotto samples and hope to get most of them ready to sew. (No, I am not telling you the blocks we selected yet!!!)

Now that I'm back in my own home (today was another story beginning at 4am with DGS here to evacuate us to his mother's house) and have electricity, I hope to be finishing up the Frozen panel quilt this week-end. That's about all I can think about doing right now.

Theresa, Finding those blocks is a great start on your Scrap Jar Stars if you plan on using them as the center square. I made my centers really scrappy and used up a lot of my smaller squares. There are so many ways to make variations.

Beverly, maybe you can twist your friend's arm to join you on the retreat. Or is it too soon to subject her to what happens on retreats?

I delivered the scrappy baby quilt to the baby's grandparents yesterday. They were thrilled. I think I'll work on my One Block Wonder a bit this afternoon. We have nothing much planned for the weekend, so I might get some quilting done.

working on September lotto blocks and contemplating what's next. I may be trying to whip up a really fast lap robe type thing tomorrow for a friend who, so sadly, is probably being admitted to Hospice this weekend, or very soon. I'll know more about that later this weekend. And I need to think about some fast table runners and mug rugs to get into a sale for our Botanical Garden Fall Festival by the 14th. Nothing like waiting til the last minute!! (but I DO have a few pieces available.)

I just don't seem to be motivated to sew lately. In a slump. I guess. Still have to finish the Olaf quilt, that's now a Christmas present and sew the pillowcase that will go with it. All by my machine waiting to go, maybe tomorrow!

I spent yesterday and the day before tying a quilt since the power was out Friday due to Hermine. The power got turned back on after I'd started so I just continued with it. Finished tying it yesterday while watching the Downton Abbey Marathon. Weather was still bad so nothing else to do. Also cut binding strips. But if the weather is better today I need to get up off my behind and be out and about for awhile. DH has no inside interests so he was absolutely miserable yesterday. He needs a break. At least I have a TV in the sewing room so that he wouldn't be subjected to hours of Downton Abbey! LOL! No, he'd rather watch those stupid shark sci-fi movies - UGH!

Stopped working on lotto blocks to help my sister in law make a small cozy quilt for her sister in law! (first ever quilt for her to attempt!!) We pilfered thru my stash to come up with some very cheery stuff and Ellen even wanted to add in a few 'tactile' spots, so we put in a little minky for some touchy/feely places. Only thing I could find to work for a backing was a piece of batick and WOW...we loved how it feels (silky!) for a backing!! Only thing left to do is for her to stitch the binding to the back, and maybe add a few ties, especially in the center. Now back to our regularly scheduled program.
