CP is an indeterminate plant which would need a very large container - I think.

I LOVE to grow in containers, but I stick to "compacts" and "dwarfs" that don't mind being confined. My Indian Stripe (strain of CP) is growing in the ground and probably 5' tall.

I suspect that your plant is probably root-bound and unable to get enough nutrients out to those flowers so it is aborting some of them. It has probably already used up all the nutrients from the compost and worm castings. If you have a long enough season (bearing in mind that it takes 40+ days from the first sign of a flower to a ripe fruit), you could try adding some liquid fertilizer and keeping the plant well-watered.

Hi Linda, thank you for your advice.

Just to clarify, every single flower undergoes this cycle where it blooms, sometimes fertilized and bears tiny fruit, then the stalk dries in the middle and gradually the flower dries as well. Not a single fruit since the first three in the beginning of the season.

As for being root-bound, the plant has sent some roots to the ground through the draining holes in the bottom of the pot. I added the worm castings just over a month ago. The plant grows quite well. So I am still quite puzzled o-:

It's due to stress. Either environmental and/or nutritional. If you live somewhere that is very hot, it could be that, especially since the plant is growing in a relatively small container. If you have some liquid fish emulsion or (gasp) Miracle Grow, fertilize the plant with either of these as the nutrients can be taken up quickly. Nothing wrong with worm castings, but adding more now might take too long to be assimilated.

It could also be some kind of disease ( mold ) or insect.

I would spray the clusters with Neem Oil , from early on. Neem oil is both fungicide and pesticide.
