Do you have pictures of the other stuff (e.g., furniture) going into the room?

Do you have drapery picked out, accessories, etc? Would love to see those before suggesting a wall color.

If there is good natural light, then a clean bright warm white . . like bm simply white . . . then add a lot of charcoal gray and use black plug in sconces, etc. .. The other colors of the kids play space will take over but it will feel very clean and natural in there. You could do one big blackboard / in chalkboard paint in charcoal gray tone (bm or sw will make you blackboard paint) in any shade you want. I like bm gray for you.

This provides a neutral and natural backdrop for your kids stuff - it is always very colorful .. add some plants to the space in black pots. .. if you do any curtains, try white roller shades with deep gray trim.

HI -- Being it is a play area for the kids , then cover most of the floor area with carpet tiles . FLOR.com .. Then use a dark blue like a dark navy as a base for fabric . Maybe a big fun stripe for drapes and then add in some accent colors for floor cushions such as red or orange and bright yellow . Wall color can be the lighter of one of these colors or a warm white or light tan might be best .

there is already a cream color on there, not very appealing! The wood trim around the doors is BM Cloud White to match the trim in the rest of the house. As you can see, the wood is very orange. It's NOT honey oak, but the color is. I have no accessories for this room. It is a clean slate!

the bath is freshly painted (in the background) and will not be changed. Everything else is changeable!!

OK! Well, your trim is white, it is just the doors and windows . . that makes a difference .. the ceiling dormers need to be the same as the walls though for it not to be cut up . . I'm still in the white camp and I'd like to change out the sconces to something a little less (off white /alabaster lens) art deco and more simple classic white. No gray or black there after all . . since this looks like it might grow up to be a bedroom. Cloud white for walls and ceiling too is my vote.

A dark wall tone will highlight the white trim next to the dark doors . . . and this is not a room for a dark clubby look. If you love the navy idea - use the bottom of the dormer ceiling as the line for a top simple shaker trim, and use navy from that white trim down and white above . . think that is too busy visually and you won't be happy.

I was heading in a warm taupe direction? Is that a bad move??

Warm taupe works with natural wood - but you are discounting your white trim to go to color on the walls. If walls and doors are dark, what will pop forward to the eye is the white trim. You could paint your trim with your walls - that will make any color you want to do possible, but is another project. The white trim around your natural wood makes me think that you want to stick with white because otherwise you are calling attention to the white trim outlines everywhere.

You might take a deep shade of the green you used in the bathroom for a painted on blackboard here.

what about a warm intense taupe, like Benjamin Moore Cabot Trail??

I quite like the blue, like Parma grey, Farrow and Ball, look good with that green in background

I have oak doors with white trim and I have a soft creamy beige wall color with just enough color to set off the white trim. My wood looks like wood, some might say orange but I quit listening to the critics on HGTV years ago. Almost every one I know has some version of a similar tone, or darker, in their home. I dislike gray, especially as I live in the Midwest where winters are gray enough without adding to the gloom. My young adult daughter said the gray and white Parade Homes were gloomy and cold looking - it was a rainy day for part of the parade.

I peeked at your idea books and I see you like color. I especially liked the one with bright green, red and purple. With that color palette who will notice any orange trim? That's a great look for a play space. High energy for a high energy play area.

Hi there remember me? My daughter bought new furniture for our great room, we are heading to Fla in a week or so. We arranged the best we could with no advice, and we got new floor in kitchen and Quartz counter and are painting our cabinets. Just wondering if you could look at the new pix I put on and I have an advice question about painting doors and trim after we paint cabinets
