From this angle I see mostly doors, and you can't do much about that. The entry ceiling light could look more -- something -- like light nearer kitchen?

You already have 2 rugs where you seem to need them. Maybe canvas art between the 2 doors.

Beautiful floors with nice wide hall way. I think you have enough room between to put a skinny foot or two width decorative table which one can stand over the air vent that sticks out and it looks like the both doors open inside out so that wouldn't be an issue. With the suggested art work from above hanging over it. This is tough thogh as they said above there is actually very limited wall space for such a large entrance. You really can't do much about that but you can break up the space between those two on the right side. I also feel like the paint is a little dark with the dark floors it's makes feel more enclosed than it is. A light yellow would go really nice with those beautiful floors. Regardless very nice

Oh and I don't think you want to go covering those beautiful floors with long rugs.

But f you really don't like it, I would think about everything said above or simply getting some above door scrolls/door toppers. Or you can get a more extravagant chandelier

I like to put something in the entryway that makes a statement about who lives there. Something personal, perhaps photos of your family that make you smile, or art that you love. I would also change the foyer light to something more attractive

I'd do a long rug and a new light.

I like the ideas presented so far, if you choose art perhaps go large and bold bright abstract or Asian to create a focal point, estimating a 2-3'w x 5'H might fit between the two hall doors opposite the stairs. Agree with replacing the ceiling lamp by the entry door.

You need a beautiful chandelier so when you walk in you make a statement.! That will change the whole look. You can also do a longer rug but then you will probably have to cut down all the doors.

All I can see is that step stool, which my son has and which hurts like ----when you run into it! I suggest a runner that reflects your colors and style, and pick one wall spot to place some artwork.

I agree that family photos would be nice in that space. With an active 5 year old, probably the fewer pieces of furniture, the better.

After reading that you have a 5 year old. Small antique tables doesn't last a chance lol jk I am sure he's an angel like mine lol. I really like those floors and a long rug will end up abruptly going into the kitchen but if you find one you love I wouldn't hesitate. It is your opportunity for self expression and can set the tone. I like doing the staggered picture look going up those stairs on the left. It sticks out enough that you would see them from the hallway which would look cool. But to minimize expense a newer unique to you chandelier is a must and you could find that changes the entire entrance As stated above. I still would love that dark wood against a lighter yello but I'm partial... As that's how I designed my walls against a similar dark wood with white molding and with Perhaps a a chandelier with brighter white light would lighten the paint up. I would still do somthing unique art work wise but it may be tough because you have that white box over the open space etween the right doors which may throw off how it looks and may make you unable to center , forced you know... Maybe a cool mirror would do the trick open it up a bit and give you a chance to check your self out on they way down the steps,. You also have an opportunity for somthing on the left wall on the way out to garage. Even if it's just a unique key chain older,. I'm big on functional decor.. And it saves me ripping apart my house looking for my keys haha.

Ashley, I'm going to throw an idea out there cause there's much of floor and ceiling showing as you walk in [floor is prettier]. With a few hooks hang a stained glass/ plaque anything you like from the ceiling I suppose past the light [at kitchen?]. My eyes need 'someplace to go'.... you know?

To create feel of an entry repeat a color like green - upper transom window could be altered with something - rug in green - art in green....W 9" / H 35" / 4 lb and $190. You could hang in sidelight, but then maybe not. :)

I have tried glass paint, and not sure it's what you'd like. Some good design in both transom and new glass fixture at similar height in hall.

I have pretty wood floors like you, but I loved how these colorful rugs brighten up our long hallway.

I think art on the wall between the two doors would bring some needed colour to the area, and would give a nice view when descending the stairs. You may be able to put a narrow table there if it's needed, or you could go with one large vertical art piece.

My suggestions would be to install crown molding and artwork. If you have the budget, a textural wallpaper would also look great. (I love your floors!).
