It must have been a bad one because I felt it way down here south of Marietta. My husband, who is totally oblivious to anything going on around him at home, did not feel it at all. This is the third quake I've felt that he didn't notice even though we have been only a few yards apart, at most, each time. To be fair to him, each time it has happened, I've been upstairs and he's been downstairs, so maybe that is the difference.

Chris sent me a text from work in Dallas (where he did not feel it) and told me it had been reported (at the time of the text) to have been felt from Des Moines, IA to St. Louis, MO to Dallas, TX.

I hope that everyone is okay.

I also felt it down here in north Texas. Things rattled on the bookcases, so it had to be a bad one. The last one we felt was in 2011.

What was weird, I heard it coming before everything started shaking. I got myself out of the house. Scared me. Terrified the cats.

It was a very rude awakening here in NE Norman! Although this one was longer and definitely knocked all the pictures crooked, I didn't think it shook as hard as the one in 2011. Took a tour outside and we don't seem to have any damage.

Saw several of our members over on FB. Lisa, Sharon and Bonnie are all okay from what I saw. Bon is in the Stillwater area. Had some friends on their boat up at Grand Lake and they felt it in the water!!!!

I was in the 1971 Los Angeles/San Fernando quake. It hit about 6 am. That was a much larger quake, about 6.6 to 6.7. That was pretty scary, but it was long ago. This morning, I was sitting at the table drinking coffee when I heard a rumbling train-like sound outside....something was wrong....and I got up from the table and then the trembling came, building like a crescendo. I was afraid the roof would fall, so I got out of the house. It was eerie because nobody else was up that I could tell. I had a brief moment of panic and thought to myself, "and this is how it all ends". I know that sounds crazy. I'm glad everyone is ok.

It sounded like a big truck coming down the street. The cat freaked and ran, but oddly, 2 dogs on the patio just laid there like nothing was happening.

Amy, thanks.:) It is funny that we heard it. I'm listening to the radio, and not everyone heard the sound. I've been sitting on the porch, and I don't know if you can hear the aftershocks, but I can. I don't feel them, but I hear the low rumble. Maybe my dental work is on the same frequency. lol

We are just N of Edmond. Woke DH and me up as we were trying to sleep in the one morning we can. I usually sleep right through them but this was very loud, strong, and long. My 16 yo daughter got freaked out on her little twin bed, lol, and my son thought it was just storming since it was so loud but said he didn't feel it. I think he's oblivious when he's sleeping. Walked around the house and no visual damage so that's good. The news was mentioning a pre-quake and I an praying they are very wrong because if it was a pre-quake then what is to come will be much worse.

We felt it in Tulsa. It really made the house shake, and even the vases I had on shelves. This is not a good thing.

Was lying in bed half asleep when it sounded like the air force base just launched the entire fleet, or whatever they call a bunch of jets. Then the house sort of bounced up and down for a couple minutes.

We were trying to sleep in because we didn't get to bed until 2 this morning, but nope! Thanks, Earthquake.

We felt it here in Adair County. I was still in bed and it made the bed shake and bounce. No damage though.

My niece in Enid said she really felt it although her 3 year old who was playing didn't notice anything. Her husband was changing their 3 week old daughter so he just slapped the diaper around her & they all huddled in a door jamb. I usually check AM Enid weather report but didn't get to it until later today. Just called & they're all safe. Did state government enforce the fracking moratorium I read about?

That's exactly how it feels because you know you're powerless, unable to do a darn thing! But we get to count our blessings. It ain't over yet! At least they're not happening daily. It's been MONTHS since I've really felt any quakes and it's been nice. Rude awakening for everyone this morning!

Btw, ya'll who are hooked with me via fb are more than welcome to openly relay your thoughts based on my posts. Cuz I've been SO busy and will get bizzier over the wintah.

My family felt it in Denton. We did not feel it here. I was in Lubbock all day though. Pretty strange stuff.

I didn't say anything on my earlier post, but after the quake I killed 4 snakes on my back patio. I have see only one snake since we rebuilt. They were all very small but I'm thinking "where did they come from, where's momma?".

we have a creek that runs in front of our property but that's a long way for little snakes to all of a sudden come all the way up to the house.

Well, yikes! I have a cat and a beagle that seem to get real needy right before quakes. DH asked me Friday if there had been earth quakes because the beagle was following him around. Cat freaked when it happened.

Actually my dogs really didn't react like I always thought they would. They just looked around and barked once. ??? Donkeys were not upset or spooky and the barn cats were just hanging out, cool cats. Ha ha

My daughter was sitting at her desk in Arlington, Texas, and felt herself and her shelves and items on shelves moving. She ran out to ask her father what was that? He had felt nothing. He told me about our daughter later in the day, when he heard me talking about the quake on the phone. I asked daughter if she knew what time the whatever-it-was had been. She said, about seven, she had just gotten up. I then told her it sounded like she had felt the quake. She was amazed, and doesn't want to be in another one

I didn't feel it here in the KC area myself but others did. I was in my basement at the time shelling some bean pods I had saved for seed. I heard my dog barking and then a volleyball that was sitting on a tote box at the top of the stairs that leads from the garage to the basement came bouncing down the stairs. I figured the wind blew it off or something until I heard about the OK earthquake later and put 2 and 2 together.

I'd had a late night, too....getting my mom in and out of ER - she's good, though; going home today. Bed at 2:30am and earthquake at 7:00...it was a hard knock and seemed to go on forever.
My china cabinet contents were fine, but I discovered a day or so later that I have a new crack :( Up about a foot from the corner of a hallway frame, then skip over 4 or 5 inches and almost a yard across the ceiling. Really bummed about that and the other small cracks that are now larger, but....in the grand scheme of things, I'm good.

oh...here I am. Darn earthquake woke me up on a morning I was determined to sleep late. It was so long I lost count. Knock on wood, I have had zero damage.

Most people in Grove felt the "big" quake but Al and I didn't feel it, but we both woke up to a load noise. We live on a curved road and the school bus stops at the house next door, but around the curve, and stays in low gear as it rounds the curve and comes in front of our house. It is always very loud. A loud noise woke me up and I remember thinking that it seemed to early for the bus, and I went back to sleep. Al said he also woke up but thought it was thunder. On Tuesday we visited friends in Blackwell and we were talking about the quake, and of course it had been very strong there. Just a few minutes later, the glasses in her curio cabinet started to chime as they hit each other and the glass sides of the cabinet. I told her I thought it was a small quake, and I looked it up when I got home and they had experienced 3 that day, just one county west of her.

I have only felt one here in Grove, but they are not a new feeling for me since I lived in Alaska for 8 years, and also felt a fairly strong one while living in Greece.

Did y'all notice the Pawnee earthquake was upgraded from a 5.6 to a 5.8? At the same time, they also upgraded the 2011 Prague earthquake from a 5.6 to a 5.7. They now are saying that the 5.8 earthquake is the strongest earthquake in OK history. I think they ought to qualify that with a statement that it is the strongest known or measured in modern history because, historically, I thought that they believe (or once believed) that the Meers earthquakes were stronger than the current ones, and possibly the Meers quakes would have been measured at 6.5 to 7 if they had happened in the current era.

Carol, There's been too many of those little quakes and aftershocks, but we are too far away from all them to feel them down here, and I am not complaining.

The little quakes while scare the beejeebees outta ya if you're sitting in the near dark, real quiet wee hours of the morning and concentrating fully ... BAM. Recently, when one happened there was a skunk right outside my office. Startled the skunk, too, hahaha

Oh Bon, that is terrible! Aren't the quake bad enough without the skunks too? I don't know how you tolerate all the rumblings of the earth. I'm afraid it would make me crazy. We feel them so seldom down here that I still am fascinated when the earth starts shaking, but if I had to feel it as often as you do, I think I'd get over that fascination with it very quickly.

It's not bad. Until Pawnee, it has been pretty quiet (or still?). They are not 2 and 3 times a. day. from before OCC shut down/slowed down injection wells.

I'm glad to hear it is better. Maybe this bigger quake will lead to the permanent closure of those injection wells.

You know, when our earthquakes started up here a few years ago, shortly after a new, local injection well began operation, the owner of that well shut it down after a few weeks of small quakes and one public meeting attended by quite a few people, including angry homeowners with earthquake-damaged homes and personal property. As far as I know, we haven't had a local quake since then, and much respect to the owner of the injection well for putting the community first and shutting down his injection well. At the time he shut down the well, he said he reserved the right to reopen it if he wished, but he has not done so, and I don't think he ever will. He solved our community's problem very quickly, and we were lucky that he chose to do so.

When I moved her from CA, I got quake insurance. People laughed at me. Glad I have it!

I agree with you. If we lived anywhere in central or northeastern OK, we'd have it too. Or, if we regularly had quakes down here, we would have it. It is bad enough that Oklahoma weather will find 20 different ways to damage someone's homes, but now we have to worry about earthquakes too.
