It looks like you have a great canvas to work with and I hope you get lots of great input. I'm by no means a landscape architect, but we are going through all of this right now and love the topic. Is your entire plot level? Where are your back windows, glass doors, and vantage points from the house?

For the amount of $$ you put into a swimming pool, it must be the focal point of the entire landscape. If you're viewing out from the house and you have the vantage points, take full advantage. Make sure you can see any raised walls, water features, lighting, etc. I like a more timeless geometric pool vs. free-form, but tastes and themes vary from person to person along with the existing house theme. I like the gazebo in the back (always seems like there's a journey to a gazebo) and use resources for a back patio covering (outdoor kitchen) where you can enjoy an extension of your living space and potentially keep house cooler (if it doesn't take away too much indoor light).
