You're right, the kitchen design is off. I like double ovens better than the range personally only for the fact that bending down to pull heavy food trays out is a little tougher on your back, but in your situation it's too tight of a space between opening your fridge, your ovens and the island. Is it possible to move your island out instead so it'll give you more room for your fridge and ovens?

That sure looks cramped! (How to get the lasagna out safely??) Why is the island so close to that wall? I'd move the entire island (is the flooring under there or will you buy new flooring?)

This is the model home ours is currently being built. The island is standard although I may add a sink. There is no way to move it since the normal sink and other cabinets are on the other side of the island with about 3 1/2 ft clearance. It's u- shaped

Wow! Someone forgot th the 48" minimum clearance between island and surrounding cabinets. If this is the model home, you might have options - as this might be a mistake in the model on their part. Look at your floorplans or have a professional review the clearances. If as tight as the model home, request that they be adjusted in your home. Try to work with the builder to find solutions before the island is installed. It may not seem like a big deal now, but in time you will begin to notice the dysfunction and it will really bother you.Once this is recrified, double ovens or range - up to you. Personal preference.

Think it wrong not because of oven but the fridge. You have to move out of the way to shut it. People are at the fridge far more than the oven. Kids- snacks and soft drinks. People over - wine, beer, nibbles. The door open on the fridge is going drive you crazy. You'll be in an opening the fridge/oven competition. The closeness of the island means you can't get by when one or the other is open.
If you can move the fridge I think most of your problems will fade into "I would have liked it better but it's ok".
This all presumes you are trying to do things with a minimum of cost.
If you can afford to move the island over half a meter and rearrange....do.
