I agree I like the lantern and think there are better choices to go with it

No, they do not go together and that sun light, oh, dear.

Congrats on your new home. The foyer has a lovely ambiance and I can see you're anxious to add your personal touch. The lighting you are contemplating are individually great choices. However, they do not coordinate well since they are all so different in style. They range from colonial to funky/organic. Zero in on the look you're really after....while also considering the homes inherent style.

The first and third lighting are pretty, unique, fun and eclectic. I think those two work nicely together but not with the lantern. The lantern is a predictable choice but it's nice. If you love the lantern, pick two others, or replace the lantern with a complementary choice for the others.

I'm the husband! Thanks; I agree on the styles being all over the map. I would say the sun is my least favorite and doesn't mesh well with the lantern and the the star. I think the small star wouldn't clash horribly but sounds like people disagree on that. Any suggestions for an entry light that would go well with the lantern, since that is the one my wife Alexis and I like the most? Secondly, any suggestions for something that would work with the lantern instead of the star?

If you love the star (I am ambivalent to it), I would just make sure the finish matches the other fixtures. For example, if you pick Darzy's gold lantern, pick a gold star. The three different light finishes in this small space is killing the OCD parts of me.

Thanks Smits2380. You're right, we would go with three similar finishes..we just got lazy when posting the three products. What would you recommend that is interesting if not the star to go with the lantern?

Hi...I put the small star in the mix above to see how they look together. I don't think the star works well with the "new" eclectic lantern. If you love your original lantern, let's find two complementary fixtures for it.

How about this one for the foyer? Really cool looking. Then, your other lantern for the stair way ceiling fixture?

For the small hall...

Darzy, so if we did the Osborne Lantern hanging from second ceiling down stairwell, the semi flush mount for the small hall, what would you put for the initial light? Wouldn't the Thomasville Lighting Piedmont 8-Light Hall and Foyer Fixture be way too long and hang over the door entrance? The first "level" of our foyer is roughly 8 feet, 6 inches in height. BeverlyFLADeziner, I like your Morgan Pendant light for the stairwell but wouldn't having two of those Troy fixtures be too repetitive for how similar they are? Why would those match with the Morgan Pendant? The Morgan seems more transitional and the Troy's seem more from the 60's mod style.

You and your wife are the ones that introduced the sunburst to the foyer. I'm just trying to show you how that concept could be implemented in your home.

Your home looks very traditional, and I might have suggested something more classic in design if it were my project. I just think that these two fixtures, that are viewed at the same time when you enter the space must relate in some fashion.

I don't like the sun light at all. It also looks like it would put out terrible lighting with whatever kind of treatment is on the light part.

The other two work fine together in my opinion but there may be some slightly better options for the big hanging chandelier (same style just a little bit different).

BeverlyFLADeziner I appreciate your comments. We were just lukewarm on the sunburst the most out of the three. I agree on them relating..trying to find right combo of three..with biggest anchor now the Osborne lantern (or something like it). Lisa G, I agree on sunlight. What other two are you talking ? Moravian Star + Osborne? I'm just slightly confused as thinking of Osborne as the main big hanging chandelier..and trying to figure out the first one you see on the ceiling. In order of entrance... BLANK / Osborne / Star. Or, welcome another three combinations.

Hi...your ceiling height looks taller than 8.5'. You're right the Thomasville 8 light would be too long. I think this (or even a round one) would look nice. I like that it is similar to your favorite lantern, but has curves like the drum shade one. I think either this one or your favorite lantern will look good in the foyer.

I think any combination of these would work nicely together. (Not 2 orbs though).

Thanks Darzy we measured the ceiling height..just the first "level" was 8 6". Obviously a lot higher when including space up stairs to second floor ceiling. I like the Progress lighting the most. Do you think the Progress light + Osborne lantern + Kichler light would go well? Do you think Progress + Osborne + Moravian star would be ok? Moravian star obviously wildcard but if we got in the same finish and visually and in real life it would obviously be the smallest piece..I don't think that would look horrible.

Hi. Love the lantern. Had the star in my last house and it was a nightmare to clean so I would avoid it at all costs. Great space you have to work with!

mhlmusings did you have clear glass on it or that frosted/aged kind? We thought maybe the frosted aged kind would be less of a pain...
