Is there a photo of the rug? Will you be painting that room a different color?

Why go so dark? I would go light with a slipcovered sofa (that could be washed) and white walls.

Need to find wall color FOR SURE. Thinking of a balboa mist ???
And I want the couch color cement which is a light stone color from crate and barrel. and my husband thinks the charcoal gray would be better.

Here is the rug ( similar) and the floors cast a little yellow.

Bar stool ideas? I like comfortable simple. Also would change the color of bar wall seen in this pic.

Your floors are gorgeous and I like the rug as long as it's big enough for your space

Thank you! So which color couch ? I like a clean natural modern look that is warm

I don't see one called cement. Do you mean the Dove? If so, I am with your husband on the charcoal.

Okay, I looked further at different models and colors and I like the steel over the cement and charcoal. I think you should put together a design board so you can visualize things together better.

Yes I will try. I think the blue and gray will end up being a nice contrast but still light and pretty

Thank you for your suggestions and I welcome any other suggestions as well!

I couldn't find one called cement. If you are deciding between a dark gray like the picture, and more of a taupe stone color, it will have more to do with the colors you want in the room, and how you want the room to feel. The darker gray steel one might feel more modern and cold, and the warmer gray may match better if you are planning to use the colors of nature. Since you already have the rug though, I would see which looks best with that. Put the rug in the actual space, and see if you can get a pillow from each sofa, or at least a fabric sample, to try in the room.

Your floors are beautiful and they will affect colors on walls a lot. Yellow tones are hard to neutralize so I would definitely go with off white with blue undertones. I would keep rug and wall undertones compatible. With the lake in your view bring some of nature into this room. I would try a brighter color for your sofa. The grays are depressing for a lake house. Even beiges might be better. I will see if I can find something for you to consider, if you haven't decided already. Also, do you have to do a sectional?

I am not sure about Balboa Mist, just that people on websites say it looks beige on the paint chip and in the can, but when it dries it goes very gray. I would like to suggest you try a sample and make a sample board of that one, and get SW Rainwashed. It is a really soothing color and I think it would pair well with your flooring and your rug. However, again, you have to do samples because the light in your room is critical. You have to try the sample boards in all times of the day and night. Only then, and after you take sample board to wherever you are buying sofa and can see good sample of the fabric can you make a good decision. I like the sofa above posted by emmarene in the Charcoal and I think it would look amazing with the Rainwashed. The fabric though looks fairly "rough" to me in the ones you pointed us too. Sitting for any length of time on those nubby fabrics is really difficult. I would select something smoother like that velvety one. Lay down on them in the store if they have them on display. Big purchase, so be sure. Your room is fairly large, so it could handle two sofas, or a sectional and an additional chair I believe, but I would need room measurements to be sure of that as well. Details--very important to avoid costly mistakes.

With the cement sofa, I would paint the walls blue (I prefer BM Pelican Gray) to match the rug.

Keep in mind the samples may be much different in person.

I think you need a different rug. Too "bathroom" looking? Maybe in your space it will look different, but think with that flooring, you need darker color to ground your furniture.

Please make sure a do test boards with the paint colors. That light you have is going to be very interesting and the wood tones, need to test several colors to be sure.

I am trying to avoid costly mistakes and that is why I need all of your help thank you so much for all your suggestions. Those pictures posted look amazing that really helps me understand how I want the room to look and I agree, grays = depressing

CD, before you begin to drive yourself crazy with blue undertone paints being recommended, please keep in mind that you have many existing finishes in the home that are earthtones like your tile, cabinets, counters that have to work with your paint selection. Whatever you select has to work with both. Grey is not depressing depending on how it's used.

Your floors are actually fairly neutral. If you place blue tones next to them it will bring out the yellow in the floor.

Here the best that can be done on the computer to replicate your Balboa Mist. I thought it would be a good idea to show it when compared to your existing color. Yes it does have some beige in the color, but that might be just want your home needs to bridge the gap between earthtones and the cement fabric color.

Here is the SW Rainwashed on the wall. Looks good with the sofa,...........not so good with your existing kitchen finishes.

I thought the rug was a done deal? If so, you can definitely work with it. If not, I agree, it may be better suited for a bedroom.

I'm better with visuals. Here are your selections so far:

Same paint and rug, different sofa:

Same/similar paint and sofa, different rug:

Same sofa and rug, different paint:

The first pic is a bit dull but I think the other pics show it's an easy fix. Just change one of your selections (sofa color/rug/paint).

I just can't get past the baby blue rug. I do like the darker wall color though. It "frames" the amazing view of the lake and help with light control in your space.
