The ceiling is made up of 6 inch wide clear cedar boards.

Was the cedar stained with a clearcoat, or something to even out the tone?

A clear coat of Daly's SeaFin Ship'n Shore Sealer was applied to the cedar ceiling and the cedar soffits outside.

was the cedar sanded prior to applying the clear coat? how many coats were applied? many thanks!

The cedar was not sanded prior to the clear coat. The clear cedar boards have a very smooth surface from the mill. We used 2 coats of the clear finish, back brushed, not sprayed. Over spraying or applying more than 2 coats will make the finish look too glossy.

What type of clear finish did you use on the ceiling?

We are considering using only a teak oil but wondering if that create a dull effect.
