no, so far we have only painted the cabinets and changed the lighting. We would like to paint the wall and get a backsplash but we don't know what color

You did a great job on the cabinets. I'm sure you will choose a great back splash on your own.

Good idea! I wanted a neutral look, like the look of a model home where everything is safe but very attractive. I wanted neutral with a splash of color. But with the two toned cabinets, and the caramel colored lights and the greyish tones in the counter top, I don't know where to go from here as far as choosing a paint color, table and window treatments.

Ok thinking brushed nickel hardware, subway tiles in the dominant color of your granite. Hard to tell the granite color but seems neutral beige color? Have the tiles go all the way up the wall for a more model home look. Don't stop halfway, take it from counter up to the cabinet bottom. Also what about a border in the middle like this attached pic. I'm not a fan of the narrow pendants what about two pendant like you have but a bit wider with more girth to them . At the top of your window in the kitchen above the sink do a squared off ( no frills and ruffles etc) valance that coincides with whatever drapery you do in the dining nook.

Maybe the pendants need one more then it will cover more area and balance the space

have you done a search on houzz yet,i am sure there are more examples,but here is one i found and some tiles i think might work love your lamps,have searched for ambercolored tiles...

This project looks great! @jayjaystone can I ask what products you used to paint the cabinets? Also, did you add crown molding?

I like the changed look. Your flooring is similar to what I am considering, do you know the manufacture or the name of the color?

With how dark your cabinets are now, have you considered white tiles and an off-white, light taupe or light grey paint? I am posting tiles that can be installed vertically (as shown) or horizontally. I only posted the paint colors as visual aids, you would need to select paint in person. You can add as little or as much color as you want, through accessories and window treatments.... and change them with out whenever you want.

How about a pale almond color? I like subway tiles in white.

Benjamin Moore has a beautiful neutral color selection. Check out the Pottery Barn or Candace Olsen lines.

Do you want a neutral, or something colourful? A great neutral is Revere Pewter by BM. As for the backsplash - personally, I don't think you can go wrong with a solid colour or glass subway tile. I personally don't like to have an overly "busy" backsplash when you've got a granite or granite-look counter. (btw, Is it actual granite?)

If you want a warmer look, I'd suggest something like a tumbled travertine backsplash, perhaps a subway style or square tiles arranged in a brick pattern (pics below). If you want a sleeker, more modern look check out the last kitchen picture I posted as a backsplash example. It's also painted in Revere Pewter, but the backsplash is sleek narrow modern tile (Duo Pewter Slivers by Sonoma Tile)

Edit: I don't think you can ever go wrong with a clean white tile backsplash, if decisions become overwhelming =)

Meant to add, if you go with a neutral on the walls, like the Revere Pewter, then you can still bring in a lot of beautiful colour accents with drapery/decor accents/art etc.

This is just what I want to do to our cabinets. How did you stain them? I think it would be a warm change to our 1980's maple cabinetry.

the cabinets are painted, first a shade of orange and then a thinned out black, the two colors blend together to look like wood
