Which Thermostat to select

I'm trying to decide between the following wifi connected thermostats for our new house:

Honeywell TH9320WF (same as RTH9580WF) - a well rated, slick T-stat that runs ~$170.

Carrier Cor TP-WEM01 - Relatively new smart thermostat for $250. Has features that work with my Carrier equipment which may be an advantage over the Honeywell (?).

Infinity Touch T-stat - High end, expensive T-stat with even more bells & whistles. I have Infinity air handler but Performance compressors so I may not get the "full" value from this T-stat. But I do like that it can control my blower at H-M-L-Auto settings. I don't think any of the others can do this.

I have Carrier Infinity 59TN6A variable speed blowers and Carrier Performance 24ACB 2-stage compressors.

In addition to wifi, I'm primarily interested in comfort settings. I don't like the fan blowing so hard that papers blow off my desk. I prefer consistent lower speed air flow and humidity control. We live in Texas.

What thermostat do you currently have, and how is it wired to the 59TN6A furnace? The Infinity thermostats use a 4 wire connection (power, ground, and 2 data connections). If that is what you currently have then you will need additional wires if you want to use the Honeywell or the Carrier Cor thermostats.

If you want better fan and humidity control then spending the extra money on the Infinity thermostat makes sense. When you buy a communicating furnace it is always best to buy the manufacturer's communication thermostat.

I currently have Honeywell 9320's. There are 6 wires connected to my thermostats (red, white, yellow, blue, green and brown). Assuming I rule out the Infinity Touch T-stats because they are $600 ea, will the Carrier Cor provide more functionality than the Honeywells I have now? It sounds like you are saying yes, but I want to confirm.

I took a quick look at the the manuals of the two thermostats. It seems the Carrier Cor has a cool to dehumidify feature, but the Honeywell 9320 does not. Other than that the features appear to be the same.

The Carrier Cor has no advantage over the Honeywell in controlling the 59TN6A furnace based on what I have read.

Thanks! I wish the Cor allowed user control of the fan speed, but it does not.

Do you think the temperature accuracy would be about the same between the two thermostats? I notice with my Honeywell 9320 that the actual temp is 2 degrees cooler than the thermostat says.

It is difficult to tell which thermostat is more accurate. If the temperature reading is not correct, you can change the temperature offset to make it more accurate.

Why would you purchase a top of line nice furnace and then shortchange its features by adding a wrong thermostat? I know the Infinity thermostat is pricey but that’s what you should get. Definitely not a third party brand or a lifestyle type thermostat.

    IMO
