I love the room above, the pantina achieved is so right for this sort of setting, however in a normal home I think it would be quite difficult to get the look right, I thought textured walls are a dated look?

it looks great-ish til you want to do something else with the room and then you've got textured walls.

while faux treatments are dated, that doesnt mean you can never do them. when our plastered walls were being repaired i loved our dining room, it had been yellow and now had this grey overlay and looked like a ruined palace (a lot like that picture above). our designer and i both loved it my husband said no way. he lacks imagination like that.

so i was forced to have some lovely Thibault paper in the room instead. life, so hard.

Yes, I agree that it depends on the home absolutely! I think it can be classic if done well and in the right setting.

Some houses can pull of that bold of an approach, but for others it's too much. On that note, the above picture pulls it off perfectly!

Yes - textured walls are great!

Textured walls can feel fresh and light if done correctly. There are so many great plasters on the market now that pro finishers can use. The great thing about layering plasters versus using a glaze is the more authentic/timeless feel they offer. It also looks a bit more "current" to go with layering plasters in a limited, pale palette. Just like any artistic application, it is the vision of the applicator that matters. Done sensitively, textured walls can be just what a space needs, no matter what might be trending.

We work mostly with chalk. Traditional or modern houses both get immediately an emotion. Colour gives then the intention needed or style needed. Tuscan Hotel.
