Because of the painting, it is easy to mix metals. I also noticed the serving tray/table in the living area and it has metal. Looks gold on my screen? So, yes, mixing is a wonderful thing, you just have to be careful about how you do it. One more small thing. Did you consider using velvet pillows on your white chairs in a color from Miss Peacock? Might want to bring another pillow in the bright blue/cobalt from her? I like the black, but just saying! Maybe those pillows are dark blue? You know how color is on monitors. I know the gold fixtures are a departure from your idea books and what you have been picturing, but somehow I think they would set your room apart from all others...in a great way! lol

You could always order them and nail them down while the price is right and make sure you can return if they don't work out. Might be a small restocking fee, but would be worth being able to try them.

They don't sell them here in any store but the Kathy Kuo has a 30 day return and no stocking fee. I'm going to order the dining now and then I have a 10% off next purchase and will order the LR one. The bar cart is muted and not shiny gold. My pillows are soft linen in navy. I found some velvet ones I like and thought about changing them out for fall and possibly new ones on the sofa. I can use the navy on a long bench seat in my office once I get the cushion made. I have another post going for final touches in LR as I need a coffee table, maybe a sofa table and need some art. Yes, I think it shows much more gold in person because all the crystals are amber. The description is not good at all and it is hard to get a good picture. The basic metal is kind of champagne silver which is that place between gold and silver and then the crystals take it toward gold. But either way, I think it works. I'll see if I can find a picture of my clients space with this one.

here is my 2 cents, i worked in a lighting showroom for 10 years

since the peacock is not wall mounted, i would before installing the picture light, the shadows will cast better.

get an LED picture light from house of troy, not cheap, but also one of the best in the business.

the ceiling fan was centered to the room as to the corbel that is next to the door. thought probably was the sofa would line up with that door. but this is so fixable with a simple swag. on the other hand you could widen the chairs by the fireplace and pull the sofa in a bit more. i think floor lamps and table no hanging in this space

lastly, dont get too many light fixtures going on. looks like you need one over the dining table but you may not need one in the formal seating area.

if you pull the sofa toward the f/p you could add a narrow sofa table and buffet lamps ( wondering if there is a floor plug)

Somewhere I saw a delicate cage chandelier in a pregnant shape. It followed lines of ceiling, which I liked. A bit like his earrings [if he were wearing any]..... Not sure the finish, was silvery. Burnished champagne/gold?

@downbytheriver - yes, I did have a floor plug placed under the sofa and can easily move sofa in more. I do have a very small entry way with a bronze sconce across from LR which I should have posted. Umm...so you think I should cap the fan box, hang the Peacock - correct? The painting is 40x60. If I hang the painting is there a remote picture light? I just wonder how I would turn it on and off.

you said there was an out let back there... but no switch how silly is that! have an electrician come in and run a switch, it wouldn't be too hard. or is the outlet recessed or flush?

also, remove the small table in front of the vent... and hopefully you have some of the wall color paint, paint that vent lol!!

The outlet was installed and recessed for TV so it has a wall socket. I may plug in a light to see if I have a switch running to it. I do have some switches I don't know what they go to. Maybe I'll get lucky. My neighbors have a picture light with a remote. Not sure if that would be more expensive. Yes I am painting out the vents, can lights, etc., and on my 30 page to do list. I can move that little table. It was just s thought.

hahahaa.......... the ??switches, always makes me laugh. if it is recessed then they do make remove switches, cost about 50$ picture lights are worth their weight. so dont cheap out of the color of the light will be horrible. plus LED is the way to go, never change a bulb and good safe light for art. also no heat.

You might be able to put a timer on the art light. I like hanging Mr. Peacock but don't abandon a light fixture. That would help "define" your living room space without dividing up. I have 3 pendants, and two chandeliers in my open area and as long as they "relate" to each other you are good. Also they will hang at different levels which is good. DR should hang about 30" above top of table top. Might adjust so mirror reflects it. The pendants are higher and then the Chaney in living room would be at 3 rd level. All good. But you have to decide on that. Surely don't like fan so I would get that out. I contacted my client for picture of that fixture. I will post if she is able to send to me.

My sweet client zipped me over two photos. One with the light on and it looks more gold then, and one when it is off and it looks more silver then. Hope this just tempts you more! lol

You can see more gold probably because of the amber crystals. Great combination.More silvery/champagne look when off. Her ceiling and walls are SW Accessible Beige just for reference. Gorgeous piece.

My goodness I had no idea how expensive picture lighting is and now I'm confused. I have several furniture pieces to buy for LR, Master BR, lamps and artwork. I can really only afford one of the two choices. Picture light or chandelier. Umm

well i would get the fixture for the dining room first,then that is finished. at that time have him take down the fan to give to the person who needs it. then i would get your chairs and lamps and see how that comes together. breath... you dont need to do much the home is beautiful!

Flo - when you say the LR chandelier will be level 3, should it hang slightly lower than DR chandy? How do you feel about the foyer light with the two chandeliers? Do you think they argue? The cordless feature was what attracted me to this product. However, the remote control battery was dead upon arrival and so unique that I'm having trouble finding a replacement for it. The construction is very flimsy plastic and I had to stuff paper in the hinges to keep it upright. Love the concept but hate the lack of quality in this product.

Isn't that the truth Lynn? I do love crossing things off my project(s) list but then again, it's always replaced with yet another. So many ideas...so many possibilities.

At first I was loving this inexpensive means of lighting my images. Initially, I had also thought I had read that the LEDs are super bright and last up to 100,000 hours.

Upon further reflection...

Firstly, I wouldn't call this Rite Lite model's 8 LEDSs super bright.

Secondly, the "up to 100,000 hours" must be only accurate for the LED bulbs themselves. Notice the distinction in the product description by the manufacturer. They're not saying using three AA batteries in this will allow the unit to be on for 100,000 hours, but rather that the bulbs may last that long. I'm underwhelmed.

Whether it was an attempt to deceive or simply my inability to read precisely, I CAN say for certainty this unit will not shine on for more than around 5 hours on fully charged batteries (I use rechargeable, but have tested on two sets of non-rechargeables).

I just want to FYI others in case they misinterpret some things as I apparently have.

Positively, I do think it's fairly stylish and if a person only shows an image for very short periods of time they won't find themselves changing the batteries as often and may be happy enough with it.

I think it would hang above dining one. We will have to determine height when you hang painting, if you hang it. The dining room will hang about 60-65" above table top. So you can see the LR would be quite a bit higher I believe. I think your entry one is tucked away enough that it isn't problem. Plus you have black posts in pendants in kitchen so mixing will work fine in my view. I checked for that art light too. I suspect the can't keep production up with demand. Bet it sucks up 8 batteries fast too. Not sure of width. It doesn't list anywhere I could find. But it is a great idea. Price is sure right.
One more thought. You will not be looking at all three at same time much at all. You might see two but it will work beautifully. If it were ornate and took up a lot of visual space that could be a problem. No worries.

the only reason im stressing this is because i have a lot of experience with picture lights, in homes and in galleries. even the best of the best battery LED picture lights just have their limitations. even spending 30$ is no good if the product is wasted. .. Its more likely the reason its not available anywhere....

Downbytheriver - yep, the reviews say it all. I will put the $24 in my go fund my picture light savings account. Lynn - we may need to pass on this one.

You can also utilize revilite as seen in picture below, the light then is attached to the wall or the painting and is very unobtrusive. You would have to have a plug in behind the painting.

Otherwise, I'd be leaving it off. Downbytheriver, is there a plug in option that you are familiar with that would be "acceptable" ?

A less expensive option is listed below. I'm dealing with this issue now and I can tell you that each recessed pin point light for my oil paintings runs over $300 each, plus they had to rip out the ceiling to install them, then I had to pay for new sheet rock, skim coat of plaster, painting, plus the cost of the electrician to install. With that in mind the cost of the expensive light is far, far cheaper than the cost of installing recessed pin point LED lights. You have one painting that you want to be the rock star of the room - and it will be if you do it right. It amazes me that people think proper lighting is suppose to be cheap - it makes or breaks your room. When you look at "wow" spaces on this website, they all have professional lighting designs. And I do not understand you wanting to hand a Chandlier in the space, all it will do is block your painting - the one you asked to highlight. I think you need to decide what in this room is your focus. The chandelier or the painting.

and most of all no good lighting is cheap, not even rope lighting hahahaha. those monte carlo fans you are taking out, 300$ a pop! anyway I love your space, and your taste and you will make the right choices. you have made a lot of great ones already.

Downbytheriver, I'm not in the trade. I worked my way through college and professional school being a gofer/secretary/gal Friday working in an interior design firm back when people paid for quality interior designers. And I promise you, the top designers insist that the lighting plan be part of the overall plan. And if the client wasn't willing to pay for lighting then my principals would pass on the project. You can put up a Zuber Eldorado wallpaper in a dining room, but if no one can see it, then it matters not that you paid $75,000 for the wallpaper and another $30,000 for the installation. And what people don't understand, there is nothing that makes a room look cheap and the things in it awful than bad lighting. Beautiful rooms are always about "drama" and you can't have drama without professional lighting.

And if she wants WOW in a fixture, my choice.

As I said earlier in this thread, my view is "lighting" is everything in a space, so that is true. However, we always have to consider and respect the owner's budget and desires. In the final analysis, it is their "space" and they get to make the final decisions without feeling bad about it. So, my suggestion, is take the step that is most important to you first, then do your next priority, etc. It is a "process". You will know what needs to be done when you get there. You have an excellent eye, and a strong sense of design, so go with that "feeling" that makes rooms sing for you. It will all work out - eventually. Take your time.

yes hers may only be a 200 or less i still have no idea, (or i missed it) how big the piece is. and size matters lol. And I also agree, with making the choice that works for you!
