Hi! I would love to see some pictures. I'm wondering if the flowers are an orangey red, or more maroon? Where are you located? Do you think it would get out of control in my zone? Nothing really gets killed by cold temps here, and I have had a morning glory that spread everywhere. I couldn't get rid of it:) Thanks, Lisa

I'm in zone 7A and it's as middle of the road red as you can get! I will see if I can get a picture uploaded, but it'll take a couple of days. I wouldn't think out of control. The vines themselves are all on one string. Literally, string. If that tells you. It doesn't have tendrils. It's a dream. I can't see how it'd be bad?

That map of the plant's native range is very misleading, as I think many of those maps are. It shows that plant as native to three states; Florida, Texas, and Michigan. But, if you scroll more closely, only one county in Michigan reports it as native, and I'll bet the farm that it is an error. So, one mistaken report from one county ends up making it look like the plant is native to an entire state. And how can it be native to Texas and Florida, but not Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, etc? Also, every single county in Florida and Texas are claiming nativity, without a single county from the edges of the other states. There has got to be something very wrong in how each state identifies and reports their native plants.

I grew that vine years ago until I found out how vigorously it reseeds. It really is pretty.

I have 2 trumpet vines that are vigorous & hardy. The one growing up onto the roof of the shed I keep cutting back..

I have the cardinal climber along with cypress vine (white, red and pink) and blue and red passionflower vines, and malabar spinach - all of these growing in a single pot (size about 10" square by 16" tall) next to an arbor in my front yard. Some pictures follow-
