Probably they won't guarantee that they can remove the counter and cut it without chipping or breakage. Plus, the money is in selling the stone. Maybe if you combine the deal with a new counter for your island...

We are fabricators in Florida, and we do this type of job.

But maybe other fabricators want to sell you a new piece of granite.

They can make more profit than just cutting your existing tops.

I am needing to cut my existing granite too. I would like to change out my 18 year old kitchen sink to a larger one bowl sink.

Try asking the folks who run demo sales in the Chicagoland area for some leads. Another information source might be the various salvage and resale places in the area...ReUse Depot is in Maywood and BeforeUDemo is in Villa Park. Also, check to see if the closest ReStore has a collection of business cards for various services.

Don't give up as there are people who will provide this service. The guy I hired came through a contractor friend.

I do this job all the time, usually for less than $300.00. Keep searching.
