I would go with a modern style home with glass walls to take in the view but done in cedar & stone exterior. A flat roof for a roof deck. Let the exterior meld with the land for the exterior finishes. Using the colors of the land and textures. 10 foot ceilings with transom windows. Vertical cedar siding and let it age to a gray before sealing it.

definitely take advantage of the slope and view.

On a recent home (featured on my profile) the architect "bent" the house to take advantage of the views. The center section is square to the valley and mountains beyond and the two wings embrace the view at a 75 degree angle to the center section. Take a look and then share the idea with your architect...see if they concur.
