My first year rose garden

So I started off just getting a few groundcover roses to fill in a bare patch on my front hill. Then I just kept going back to buy more, and more, and then ordered some online. ☺️

So quickly got in over my head but it has been very enjoyable. Overall the garden looks a little sad right now, black spot came and many dropped their leaves. Also everything is still small of course. Can't wait for next spring already to see how it all comes in!

But I did get some nice blooms I thought I would share!

Vaporvac - thank you! I am in Pittsburgh. Yeah I thought I would sink these puppies in the ground, water, and voila! But no! Quickly had to learn about BS, JB, keeping dear away etc. Whew!

I just hope they all make it to next year and come back stronger. When they bloom it's all worth it!

It is nice to have a place to talk roses. I send my husband pics when they bloom, and he likes them, but yanno if I refer to my wedgewood rose, he's like huh? So not really the same haha.

Good job! So exciting to start on roses. 'Mr. Lincoln' got me hooked way back when. Pretty Lady Rose sent me to HMF for more info. It's a 'Julia Child' grandchild and a 'Grande Dame' child. Both Carruth roses so she should be a good one. It's The Wedgewood Rose that sends me into raptures. Pastel pink all the way.

Wow! You have some beautiful roses Ashley. It's so easy to get hooked on these babies. I have Pretty Lady and Wedgewood. Love them both. Oh and PAOK. Love her too. Thanks for sharing your beauties and look forward to many more. Judy

Irisgal thanks for the background on Pretty Lady. I was just admiring Grande Dame on another thread so that's exciting they are related.

I have been amazed by Wedgewood tons of blooms, I bought on a whim because I wanted more PAOK but they were out. Great rose
