Martin, how many figtree's do have now? I saw some of your pictures long time ago showing quite a few varieties.

Not many as i age they were to much work growing in containers.

Looks good. I just picked the last Black Madeira that I think will ripen this year. I'm also contemplating getting rid of a lot of varieties because it's becoming too much work. Just don't feel like lugging these containers around anymore.

Worst thing personally was root pruning all the 30g containers used to have on a rotating basis.

Started cutting back years ago as i realized it was becoming too much.

Now a days it just me eating the figs and some for the next door elderly neighbor

in his 80s.

Do you have some figs in ground that produce for you? I have not tried planting any in ground but think I will start with the Hardy Chicago I have and see if it survives the winter. Water is becoming an issue too because it is getting expensive and we are also in a drought so I can't use rain water.

I'm just the opposite, just starting out and wouldn't mind buying some of yall's plants. But I know they're probably way too big to ship. Too bad we don't live in the same area.

yes i put a 10 year old Hc inground about 3 to 4 seasons back in open area of yard we had 19 below zero (no protection) few years back but died to ground level and thought is was completely dead until early June it sprouted back -failed to grow enough to produce .

Each season dies near ground level and produces late.

But have its spare in 30 g container.

Last winter cut it down low thru blue tarp over held with bricks and this season grew wild and produced well.

Need to take out some of the limbs too many now.

Time stamped pictures Jan 6th with temp gauge and plant and then June pictures of plant growing again.

PS. i use rain barrel for container figs which is not illegal here, inground HC i rarely if ever water it.
