Photos will help. Floor colors and other finishes are needed. Brown would not be my choice, as I find it very mud like. How about a lighter color? What color is your woodwork/ molding?

Each room will be different. Living and dining room will be in Monroe bisque. Sycamore tree in master bedroom. Earth and bold neutrals.

Brown isn't a good choice. I'd go with something welcoming. Even white (which I love) would be better than brown. What about black or a dark green that's more black than green?

Is your home built? Just read a few of your posts. Wait on paint if it's not built yet. Really, you will end up repainting, once your furnishings, rugs, window treatments are installed 9 X out of 10. Highly advise against brown rug, btw. Get a good commercial quality carpet in a lighter, neutral.

Yes I can post them later (door plan). Bottom floor is pretty open concept. And I am going to choose a light brown/neutral variegated carpet instead of deep brown.

As far as the painted doors..this is what I'd sort of like...

I agree! The other I looked at was Night Horizon. Which is what's in these doors and seems a bit lighter/warmer.

If you are using a brown carpet, and earthy colors throughout, I don't think the dragons breathe color will work. If you are painting all your rooms differently, you really need one thing that ties everything in your home together, and that would be your moldings and doors. A basic white will set off all your room colors, and not compete with everything else. If you are set on dark doors, I would look for a warm dark brown expresso color. The night horizon looks okay in your photo, but looks way too gray/muddy for your other colors on the BM site.

It's really hard to decide one element of your home without knowing all the pieces. Are you working with a designer? May save you big bucks, by coming up with well thought out plan.
You have plenty of time, your house isn't near being ready for paint, lol.

I agree with Sandy. Also did I read that right that your trim is all different colors in every room?

Dragon's Breath is a fine color but it is not brown, IMO. I'd call it gray or green. Here it is next to BM French Press. If you want brown, choose an actual brown.

Em, would that French press work well for a door? I do love the warmth of it...

And to answer a previous question, trim will be same color as walls in each room. Just a higher gloss.

I considered French press in a room - our library. It's a very pretty brown. Very dark too. If you'd really like to go with brown then that's a great color choice. I put gloss paint on my doors and crown and satin on everything else. always Ben Moore advance. I used kilz primer for years but found that the advance primer is amazing on trim and doors! I should clarify ... satin on other trim. Walls are always washable but matte or flat. I put satin on a ceiling once but it showed every imperfection in a bright sunny room. Good luck!

I would stay away from brown and like I said earlier wait on colors until you can try samples in your space with all of the other finishes. I am an oil painter and brown is really mud, we get it when we pile other colors together. I would do a purer color, not brown.
