Do what you like. Do what you think will work with you and your space and how you live.

Eased at the top. It is harder to chip and being the bottom is square, you won't have liquids running back to your cabinet.

I prefer squared to the rounded edge. It looks a lot more modern and custom.

I'm no pro, but I just got a granite counter top with a 1/4 bevel and I love it. Angular and subtle enough that it still feels a little modern (to me at least) but a little more detail vs. the eased edge. I think many different edges can work and look nice depending on your personal style and the style of your kitchen.

Yes it does depend on your kitchen look. As a chipped edge has a great look also, but if in a farm house or rustic look. Modern look yes then go smooth round or flat smooth. Ogee is an older style look and has been used a lot. But might go with you décor of kitchen.

Our contractor and fabricator recommended eased. They definitely said no to square. They said square edge has high chances of chipping at the edges and also customers with holes in their clothes.

Chipping would mean you are rough on counters. All counters no matter the edge can be chipped. Go with what you like and want, not from a contractor. You live there no one else does!

I had also wanted straight edges (my counters are quartzite) but the fabricator also said they'd be much more prone to chipping, so I went with eased. They look beautiful and classic.

Talk to your fabricator and see which edge will work good with your countertop. There is a few choices of "up-charged" edges which add detailed profile, but you cannot use this edges on some types of stone, some have a tendency to chip more than others, and they use resins to try and fill the voids, etc and doing that will make the edges to appear wavy or not as sharp as some expect them to be.
