Your home requires a new landscaping plan. The evergreens have seen their best days and should be pulled. I don't often say that because I usually say that things can be pruned to improve, but not in this case.

Also I would change out the window over the door. That would really help the appearance of the home.

Thank you for the ideas! We have thought about shutters and I love the idea of changing the window above the door. And yes we hate all the landscaping.

I would suggest getting a landscape designer to help you. This is a large house and it needs much larger, well planned landscape beds. It looks like you have very small steps leading to a small porch at the front door. Expanding the entry area would make it much more welcoming. It is a beautiful home.

The design of the brick and the location of lights both lead me to believe the colonial pediment and door trim are not original to the house. I would remove them. The door may be original but it is a Victorian style door and does not seem right on this house. I would replace it also.

If budget allows, widen the front stoop.
