Wood siding/trim with red brick house

Looking for recommendations for the siding and trim for our hulk of a house -- it's a two family, and we want to lighten it somewhat but also just make it look happier! Ironically, one of the colors I'm looking at is BM Hale Navy (both my wife and our downstairs neighbor like blue) -- no matter what color we choose, it will look lighter because we are going to paint the trim a light color. Thoughts? Does a blue house clash with a green garden?

Also: there is something of a deck (awkward placement, no real use) -- I'd love color and or other suggestions. It's currently painted the red of the trim, but sand and stain? something else? Also also: the second-floor porch in the first photo (there's another on the back!)?

I think navy and white will work well. Consider unifying all the columns in front - either brick or wood, but not the current mix.

Here's my pinterest board (the blues are for my wife; the greens are for me!) and my houzz.

A couple of additional details: the lot is currently very shady (we'd like to take out a couple of trees (I know!) but we won't have the $ for a while; and the parts with the siding face the street (we are on a corner), so it's very visible, not subtle.

The blue and white will be very good. I do like the way the window frames now are dark with the white dividers. Will you paint the frames white? It will make the windows look larger and more substantial. A green garden goes with any house color.

The first photo is excellent. The garage doors with windows are perfect. The color of the Tudor beams minimizes them. No need to stucco or anything.

I love the house color and would paint the garage door to match. The plants which died may work better on the north or east side where the sunlight us cooler. If you planted them in the spring, they just may not have had time to get established. You may want to plant a tree or two to the front yard for curb appeal.

I would consider a glass tile or small or large subway tile in the same green as the glass floor...what a creative idea, btw.

decoenthusiaste -- thank you -- that's what's wonky about the columns! We don't have the $ to do that in this project, but now that I can see it, I think we will at some point convert them all to wood with the brick base, with balustrades between them, yes? Would you make them square or keep them round? (I'm partial to square, but I don't know if there's something architecturally relevant to keeping them original. It's not as though the house is historic per se, I just don't want to wonk it up in a different way. :)

If the house is not historic, do what you like best. Maybe someone here with a good program can illustrate both for you.
