Goodness me, what strange beasties those split rock things are, never seen anything like them before!

I know right! I love my Pleiospilos Nelii! They are doing great! I actually thought they were ugly at first but when in bloom they are very pretty...I haven't had them bloom for me yet due to it being the first year I've had any. Kinda the "so ugly, they're cute" deal. But I'm looking forward to it blooming for me one day.

I get lithops on Etsy!!! They're great and I've found some super cute ones.

So ugly they're cute ... Totally :D Definitely on my wish list.

P. Afra, too. Glad it's coming back and showing growth for you.

My co-worker got a lithops and we call it her "butt". I come in to work and ask how her butt is doing haha.

how how long have you had them in the growers pots from lowes??

I've only had them MAYBE a month. I doubt I've had them that long. I took one out and put it in a community pot but I'm so glad I followed the advice and moved it back! The one that is the biggest and the one that is growing new leaves in the middle are the most recent. I'm actually moving them today. The wind blew one off yesterday so I had to pot him up again. BY THE WAY I HATE PEAT!! It took a while to get the existing soil of it's tiny fibrous new roots! It's like the soil was so dry and it dried to the roots in clumps. Although this species can live happy in this mixture.

That's what peat does when it becomes hydrophobic - dries as hard as a brick, sticks to the roots and doesn't let water penetrate at all. Best not to use it...

I really wish the companies would consider leaving it out of their mixes!
