Antique Star is finished

I couldn't wait any longer to post a picture of this quilt. It's such a rainy day that I can't get any good natural light. I'll have my husband hold it up later to see if I can capture the true colors and border. But for now, here it is finished and on a bed. The pattern is Antique Star from the book Tributes and Treasures by Paula Barnes and Mary Ellen Robison. Many of the fabrics, including the sashing and border, are Paula Barnes designs. It finished at 91" square. No two stars are alike. I know I have well over 100 hours on this one, not counting the quilting which was done by my longarmer friend.

Lois!!! You have done it again.......it's amaaaaaaazing!!......and I really like your sashing as it seems to individualize each star. I love this and can't wait to hear about your friends receiving it.

What a masterpiece. I'd love to see the looks on their faces when you show them. I think this picture is just fine. Beautiful job.

Wow, that looks like the cover of a quilt magazine! Beautiful. I'm sorry, if I'd made this I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to part with it. I'd be digging around trying to find something else to give away. I know. I'm selfish.

I'm searching for more superlatives...elegant - definitely....sumptuous...I'd love to snuggle under it...and I would say pulchritudinous just to amaze everyone...but that's only used for people.

Thank you, everyone, for your generous compliments. I gave the quilt to my friends last night. I brought them into our guest room to "show them what I'd been working on." Then handed Nancy the corner with the label. I thought she was going to cry. She was absolutely overwhelmed. After we folded it up, she just kept holding it, hugging it, and saying she couldn't believe it was hers. It was a very heart-warming experience.
