Is there a reason that this wall needs to be accented?

Not really. Do you think it would look better keeping it as Mindful Grey?

I was just thinking the staircase would stand out more if the back wall was darker.

I like keeping the paint color fairly consistent throughout the space unless there's really a reason for a contrasting wall. I think that this is a nice staircase, but nothing that needs to be the focus of the entry. I'd rather keep the eye on the lighting, furnishings, and art you place there.

Usually an accent color is used to create a feature wall..not sure if a staircase wall should stand out that much. More importantly though, you will be adding even one more color to what you already have: beige rug, two grey colors in rooms, white spindles, and dark wood - I feel the space will feel very broken up. Why not continue with Mindful Grey and accessorize for a much more modern look.

That looks amazing. I am glad I came upon this. I was looking for accent wall ideas and my staircase is very similar. It looks 100% better not having a different color running up the stairs.
