I dont know if the weeping will. Have you seen many of the weeping F.nitida's? This is the first I have ever seen.

It's fairly close to the house. There are probably roots under the foundation. Isn't ficus benjamina called weeping ficus?

The zoom sort of compressed the view. Its got 20-30' between it and that church building I think it was.. No ,this isnt Ficus bejamina. Its foliage is very nitida like...but you do remind that is isnt as hardy as the regular F.nitida. This tree did get nipped by frost last year,when my neighbors young F.nitida was like a rock.

If GardenWeb had a Ficus Forum I would post this..because I'm curious too.

Around where I live, ficus nitida is ubiquitous, it's overplanted and boring (imo). The roots can be kind of invasive too. It is a very resilient tree that will grow very well here without any care.

I don't want them all cut down, but I don't want people encouraged to plant more of them.

That's such a pretty tree, and I love the planter they built for it, really gives it some dimension. Looks like the perfect place to sit and enjoy the shade for a bit. :-)
