Please don't try to run gas piping yourself. Hire a professional plumber to install all gas lines, it is worth the investment. I'm not quite understanding your question about the island venting. I'll check back to see if we can figure this out.

As I understand it, there is a hood and duct that she wants to cover up? Is this on an island or against a wall? Could you ask her to take pictures and upload them for us to see? Or is this new construction?

Fatih, Please let Yasemin know that there are many photos on Houzz. She can search the photos (over 1,250,000) for a hood style she likes. Tell her to hit the browse rooms tab on the header and select kitchens, then type modern hood in the search bar. Lots of images will come up!

Ironwood Builders, she wrote earlier message the house have not build yet. So she can not picture yet. She was asking how to hide islands vent hood channel until chimney. Vent hood is in center of kitchen and chimney is on wall side. To hide the line only way is suspended ceiling? Any other options or ideas she was asking.
By the way she is glad with houzz and as soon she build new home she will share pictures with houzz.

Ahh! Great! Thanks so much Fatih! I owe you some pillow purchases! So Yasemin has a couple of options. The first and foremost is that the hood does not need to vent into the chimney. It only needs to get to an exterior wall. An overhead hood can be piped so that the ducting goes between the floor joists. If the floor or ceiling above does not have floor joists (wood beams) then she needs to have a box built down from the ceiling to hide the duct. We call this a soffit or bulkhead. The island location can make the bulkhead look out of place, so making it an architectural part of the design is best...define the room with it. If there is no room above...only roof, she can go straight up with the duct. If there is a space below, even is it is in concrete, she can do a downdraft vent. One that pops up from the island counter and pulls the air down and out of the house. I'm on my iPad, so posting pictures is not working. I'll do so later! Does Yasemin have plans drawn of the kitchen? If she can put them on the post it would help!
