Why did you want to run a verticutter on it? Was the grass not doing well?

Where do you live?

What kind of grass do you have?

How have you been watering it? How often and for how long?

When were the last 2 times you fertilized and what did you use?

Europeans get a lot of moss in their yards for some reason, hence the verticutting & scarification. We Bermuda owners know that bare dirt is the key to getting Bermuda to spread. For other grass types like you probably have, that may be a different story. If you're seeding I believe bare dirt is required for proper seed-soil contact.
