That wall color is really fighting the carpet color. Paint in a soft white with a slight tint of green would help. As you have purchased it knowing about the carpet, is it something you can live with? If it doesn't bother you, then I would change the color of the walls and be aware of how your furniture will look combined with the carpet's color.

You might be able to pull this off with either Navy blue or grey;)

I would call your local Habitat for Humanity store. They might welcome the donation of this new carpeting (and pad)!

Good idea to check with Habitat for Humanity. We've donated to them many times. It's an interesting carpet color choice for updating to sell. I know it's not easy with something this new, but I would have to remove it. Do you know if there's wood underneath?

Believe it or not some shades of pink are coming back into designs. It all depends on what furniture you are putting into the space and if you think you can love it. If you can't remove it where you don't want it and give away. Leave where you can and replace where it won't.

I would guess someone putting rose carpet into a home before selling probably got a very good closeout deal. I would not opt to decorate your entire new home around pink carpet unless you love it or must live with it. Donations are usually welcomed...I would imagine there would be many happy 8/9yr old girls who would love this carpet in their room!

It looks as if its in the whole house. Start replacing it where it counts the most first ,downstairs living areas and do the bedrooms later.
The pink is really disturbing. Some one posted that pink is coming back but not in this style house.

Get rid of it. We have redone 90% of the renos that the last owners did to get the house ready for sale. I felt bad, but am so happy I made the changes. Hardwoods would look beautiful in your space.

If you're planning to rip out the carpet I would donate it to the needy! We usually post (in our local listings) of new unwanted carpet being torn out of a home. If someone is interested in it, we give it away vs tossing in a dumpster.

It is a color for 2017! But I had a "pink/mauve" house back in the dark ages! lol And my children would kick me out if I went back to that color! Gone forever. But it does look good in certain master bedroom situations and with the new "aged gold" faucets and hardware and lighting, I don't know! lol Just sayin... Never say never, but not in this house!

Are you serious that this is NEW carpet?! I can't believe anyone (even a little old lady that decorates with pink, light blue, and swans) would actually choose pink for new carpet while trying to sell their house. They should have offered a credit!

I don't know about you but I wouldn't be able to live with that-- new or not. I'd replace it all before moving in furniture.

It’s doable, but it will cost a lot of money to make the rug look as if it was part of your scheme.

Pink is in fashion. Worldwide it was one of the two colours chosen for Pantone's colour of the year, 2016, with light blue.

When we bought our house, the previous owners installed new white carpet. We moved in, and now 12 years later, I am stilling regretting not replacing it with hardwood, that is in my kitchen and family room. To have hardwood installed now, we will have tomorrow out for at least 2 weeks, get a POD for all our furniture and deal with relocating, pets and all.
It looks like your lower level is just that one big space. At least replace it before moving in! Do you like the tile in the kitchen? Perhaps replace the whole lower level in one material.
Is the pink carpet upstairs too?

Like...what were they thinking using that color. I've called battered women's shelters, and have had stuff picked up twice by women who were getting themselves back together. They were overjoyed to get the stuff - free...Good Luck.

Go with a different paint color. It will help for now. Our previous owner put Blackhawks red carpet in one of the kids bedrooms with green brown walls, we painted that walls "BM sandcastle" and it helped tremendously. Our carpet is new as well and not top priority so a for now solution is fine.

Painting isn't cheap unless you go the DIY route. And why dictate your wall color to accommodate a carpet color you don't like because in the end you'll still have the rose carpet! Bite the bullet and put your money towards flooring that you love.

I would definitely replace the main living areas, I think the bedroom you could totally pull off with the suggestions above. However, if you think you want the same flooring throughout do it now if you can

Dye the carpet. I did it in a home in Charlestons, SC. It looked great. I would check around in your area to investigate carpet dying. Here is a company ad.

I‘d keep the walls very neutral, beige. Dusty Rose is actually a pretty color, with the right furniture and accents, it could be very unique, and less cookie-cutter than other houses.

Please just rip out no paint no decorating could help it

Shabby Chic style is spot on with this color..wish it were mine.

It’s a very personal choice, so of course there would be some folks who like it. Or cannot afford to do anything for a few years- including paint.
But if it’s not your thing, and you did see it when you bought, my concern is that it will drive décor decisions for a long time and even in ways you’d not thinking of right now- furniture, linens, art, small decor items. And once moved in it might be harder to gear up to change.
But if for example you plan on hardwoods but can’t afford niw, or perhaps now can’t get installation done before you have to move in, you could decide to move in as- is and make no adjustment or $$ at all while you schedule and/ or save for that. Vs if you want carpet for the foreseeable future , just not pink, go ahead and get that , doing the donation arrangement as in above posts.

Wish I lived near you. I am old (65) single mother of grown son's, I had decorated my house taking them into consideration..now its my turn they can paint etc. after I am gone lol.
