I have these two half walls flanking my dining room - entry on one side (the sunny side) and office/den on the other side (to the left). We have recently replaced the painted tops with black granite and I'm going to be painting all walls BM Navajo White.

My question is: should I paint the pillars and trim under the tops in a black or leave them white?

Also, any other suggestions/ideas for these half walls (other than removing them!) would be appreciated. After 9 years I've lost all objectivity. (sorry for the dark photos).
