Had a wonderful big plant in my Indianola garden. It blooms on second year growth so flowering is not always guaranteed - a cold winter can take it back to the roots. But the foliage is big, bold and handsome so a nice textural garden addition even without the flowers!! And there are named forms that offer a bit of more intense foliage color - bluish or slightly purple.

The flowers are rather spectacular when it does bloom. A dark, waxy red spike or raceme of mildly honey scented flowers that are very appealing to hummingbirds. They last for quite a long time as well.
