Martin I remember this plant well. This and your very nice compact P. horombense were responsible for spawning my adoration of the species. Can't wait to see the blooms! Very excited for you.

Thanks! I am pretty excited, too. I never had a flowering saundersii and I certainly did not expect my young seed-grown seedling to start budding.

Tracy, I am sorry to hear about your pachy loss. :-( I keep my pachy underpotted and water accordingly (often) when in leaf. Maybe twice a week.

Hopefully it will flower but currently I am struggling with a spider mite invasion in the tent. >:-( My own fault. I put an adenium seedling into the tent which had spent the summer outside - without doing a pest inspection. And now the d**n little suckers have spread to other adeniums. As a safety measure, I defoliated most of the plants in the tent. But the battle will continue. I do not use chemicals, so I will wipe off/wash the remaining and new leaves on a weekly basis...

Oh goodness Martin, so sorry to hear of the invasion. I had this battle and my hat is off to you for trying it chemical free. I've since made a rule that once they go outside they cannot come back in. I hope you are able to beat them.

Pagan introduced me to an organic method, using BT in a dry flowable form mixed into the water. This kills all of the larvae. It was a huge help in my battle. Its a biological and was key to winning. This in combination with neem baths helped to conquer them. But it took a while.

That is a terrifying plant, Viking. I'm a clutz so I'm positive I'll find a way to stab myself in the eye with it, if I had one. I hope you win your war. I hope BT is available where you are. It's a real game-changer. And is it open yet!

One of my favorite things to do in autumn is watering portions of my yard with buckets full of live nematodes mixed in.
