I don't understand your question. Are you asking about the space above the cabinets or space above counters to the ceiling?

I don't see the problem if you like what you have, if you are asking about adding more cabinets. Do you need more storage or is it just what you see online and HGTV?

To answer your question, No, the area above the top of the cabinets does not offend me. I like the idea of lighting the area;)

Thank you for taking a moment to respond. I was just wondering if I should some how close up that area, so that I am not climbing just to clean dust that collects in that space :(

I do not plan to paint the existing cabinetry and I was hoping to not replace it all. I guess I am trying to find a "band-aide", but I am not sure if it exists. May have to be an all (replace cabinets) or nothing (leave as it) situation.

I may have the solution. This can clean your cabinet tops like a Roomba:

One trick for the dust that gets stuck up there is to lay down wax paper. I use to have to scrub the top of the cabinets to clean that greasy dust that would always accumulate and then decided to put down some wax paper. When I needed to clean, I would fold it up and throw it out. So much easier than windex and paper towels.

Looks fine as is and I wouldn't light the area either.
