Counter top seams at column

How was this counter top seamed with the column? I'm getting new counters and will have a similar situation but I can't envision how the 2" pieces on the outside of the column are seamed. . I don't want a bunch of small seams. And I would think that those pieces would be fragile. Thanks

    Hello,

    We are a lumber supplier and do not have the answer to this question. However, it appears that the beams are decorative. I imagine they are resting on a solid slab, with support underneath for the additional weight of the timbers.
