Partially blind kitten.

Hey! I own a kitten that's partially blind. It sees things only from a particular distance. The vet said that the deformity is by birth and will remain permanent. Now, since he's young, it's easier to get him down from heights or show him way out and do other stuffs. I'm worried, how will it be when he grows a bit big. I've had cats before and I know how much they enjoy their privacy and how they love to roam around alone in the garden. I feel sorry, that he won't be able to enjoy all this. Could anyone suggest how can I train it to be on its own and to be able to adjust with the surroundings even with a bad sight. Will he adapt by himself?
