We want to remodel our ranch style U-shaped home to look more like a farmhouse. We're on acreage with a barn and a growing family - so more space is ideal. We're wondering if we can add a partial second story (loft?) by filling in our "courtyard" with an entry and an upstairs by making the two gables into one large gable.
