We are remodeling this family room in our basement, and basically have a blank slate as far as furniture. At the top of the room is a large fireplace, and above it will be the TV, so that will be the focal point of the room. Also, the rear (bottom in the picture) of the room will have a little bit of workout equipment.

Originally, we had been looking for a sectional. We were thinking like 3 seats along the left wall, and then a couple seats out into the middle of the room, with a chaise on the right end, leaving just enough room to walk around the sectional and into the area.

On the other hand, I've heard a ton about people hating their sectionals, and I've also just thought about doing two couches, or couch/loveseat, and either adding an ottoman, or just having it recline. Or maybe something like a couch and a couple chairs?? I have a terrible eye for design, so any help is a plus!!

The main function of the room is TV watching/relaxing, and my number one concern is COMFORT. Of course looking good is great, but we don't need anything too fancy or too contemporary. This is a low-ceiling (7.5 feet) family room, that will be frequented by dogs, kids, and beer.
