Let there be LIGHT!

Hey everybody. I have several lighting questions. We are in the process of remodeling this house we just bought. This picture is one of the realty photos, not our stuff...

First, what in the world would you put in the kitchen to replace the fluorescent light? I can't seem to figure out a light that will look good there. I should also note we are painting the cabinets white and adding over & under cabinet lighting. Second, I bought a large beautiful Crystorama Orb (9226-OS Solaris 6LT Pendant) for the foyer. It is gorgeous, but way too big at 23" wide. I'm thinking of putting it over the kitchen table instead, or maybe even the family room? My kitchen table is about the same size as the one shown. Is there a limit to how big the light can be over a table? I'm worried it will look weird.

Lastly, it's hard to see from the picture, but you can see the exterior pendant light, and indoor foyer pendant light at the same time and that looks weird to see them one in front of the other. But what is the solution? The exterior light needs to stay; it's a very high porch. Should I do more of a flush mount foyer light?

Your comments are greatly appreciated!
