We recently sold a home where we had installed quartz countertops...and moved into our dream house with granite countertops...I miss my quartz countertops...think no veins, no pits, no germs and no repetitive sealing...of course I have 4 kids so that was very important to me. Design wise...the quartz has a more uniform appearance. I miss my old kitchen :(

My personal preference is granite, I like the natural movement and colors ... but really it is just personal preference. Both surfaces are easy to maintain and live with.

Pick what you love. Don't worry about "the market". We all have different taste. Enjoy!

Does one make your heart flutter every time you look at it? Your kitchen would support either style nicely which unfortunately makes it more difficult to decide.

I was set on doing quartz but ended up choosing granite for a couple of big reasons. One, it saved us around $1,000 which is a considerable amount since we were building a house and had so many things to budget for. Second, I felt drawn to the natural movement in the granite and think there's something beautiful knowing that nature made it so gorgeous. Every time I look at my counters I notice new little details. I also like knowing that no one has my exact counters...same stone, yes, but not exact.

It was suggested to me here on Houzz to buy Tenax Pro Seal for my stone and it's great. You don't need to seal yearl so it's very low maintenance.

Agree, select the one you like best. You won't go wrong with either. For myself, I'd do Quartz, mainly because I'm tired of seeing granite (in my house also). Every freaking real estate ad begins with "granite countertops $ SS appliances " !!!

have you ever thinked about FULL STEEL COUNTERTOP? I love them I have it... you will never regret (but its quite expensive)
