If you are rural, there may be cattle farms that sell or dispose of cow manure bedding that is wonderful compost. Now that gasoline prices are lower again, a local trucker with a dump truck (tandem truck) might not be that expensive for 15-20 cu yds. That would likely be the least expensive approach. That is normally too much for 200 sq ft, but might not be absurd in sand. Otherwise, a pick up load or two would work.

As far as I have been looking around Wilmington, Myrtle Beach up to Whiteville, Lumberton .. I have not seen a single cow grazing anywhere by the roadsides. All you can see is Soybean, cotton, sweet potato, corn fields, ...

My only available options are : Fall Leaves, Pine Straw (free to raking/blowing ) and Wood Ash. I will add those shortly and let is over winter.

In the spring planting time I will amend the planting holes with some more of those plus peat moss. I realize the it will take several season to make a dent wit so much sand in the native soil.

Maybe not as bad as I thought about my garden soil at first.

I am running a test to figure out the structure. So far I have found out that it has quite a bit of loam, silt and humus. So by adding some more organic matter ( fall leaves , pine straw, wood ash ) it should be fine. The humus, loam have good moisture retention property.

I will report on my experiment later.

Have a soil test done by your local extension office. It's a minimal fee and worth it, you will need someone to translate it a good garden center could help you fine tune your soil.
