Any suggestions for a 'tropical' theme without making it too tacky?

If it's a "second home" and used as a gathering space for friends and family I say go for themed. In a main home / one bath I prefer no theme.

I say do whatever you want, it's your home. You might have to tone it down though if you plan to sell your house.
