What kind of lighting over island?

We are finishing a kitchen remodel and trying to decide on lighting over the island. Kitchen has 9' ceilings. We don't want to distract from range hood or window over sink but also want to have lighting over island. I am also 6'7" so concerned I will be staring into lights. Debating between pendants, chandelier or recessed lights.
