I believe it is other thing, it is not a root.

Are you able to maybe take a closer picture of it? And maybe try to describe what it looks like. It's most likely to be a new root, a flower stem or a basal keiki.

Oh, yeah. That does look like a flower spike. The color looks quite normal to me. Some phalaenopsis have purple/red tones in the leaves and also in the spikes. The purple/red tones of the spike can also have to do with the color of the flowers.
