I really don't hate it. If he does the tile, what if he takes it 1/3 up the wall? Maybe an arabesque pattern? I'm looking at the other decor in the reflection and what's in your bath.

or,,,,that entire wall,,,maybe do the encaustic tiles in a nice pattern. That would really look good. and then just paint the other walls in matching color.

Powder Rooms are such fun rooms to do dark colors in. Don't hesitate with dark colors, "Blue Note" 2129-30 from Benjamin Moore comes to mind.

Your floors look they they have a lot of red in them. I think a very light terra cotta color would look nice on the walls. It's also a flattering color. I would leave the mirror there - it is interesting and fits the space well. Tile doesn't make sense in a powder room bath, especially on a wall without a sink.

cali, has a point there. I only mentioned it because she said her husband wanted to tile. Since that wall with the mirror is so visible, I picked that. But he could tile the wall behind the sink as well.
