We have a finished basement that is currently carpeted and smells musty. We do run a dehumidifier now, but haven't always and the smell won't go away. We are planning on painting down there soon and want to possibly replace the carpet with a vinyl that looks like wood, but we are open to other suggestions. I love the idea of tile, but am nervous about it for two reasons...cost, and I am afraid it would crack over time since it would be put down on concrete. I'd love to hear what has worked for you and pictures are appreciated! IF we did do ceramic, we are leaning towards the planks that look like wood. We'd like the wood look and would use throw rugs that can be easily washed if needed. Thanks!
