Transforming an outdated Kitchen

last modified: 10 years ago

I am completely re-decorating a Kitchen near Newark DE. I am replacing all of the cabinets with a new design, taking up tile floor and replacing with new 18" X 18" heated porcelain tile floor, Quartzite countertops, larger island, and a fantastic new Grotto over the new gas cook top formerly where electric range was.

My client wanted something European with whimsical touches, light in color but with distressing, and lighter countertops. I am incorporating a new Beverage Bar, and high end appliances including a 36" Wolf gas cook top, 42" Sub-Zero French Door Refrigerator/Freezer, with cabinet panels, Double Sub-Zero Refrigerator Drawers in Beverage Bar, moving existing Kitchen Aid two-zone Wine Cooler into Beverage Bar, 30" Wolf Convection oven, Wolf Convection/Steam Oven, and Wolf Microwave Drawer into island. commercial 54" exhaust hood incorporated into the Grotto above the cooktop.

I am removing the pantry closet next to the existing refrigerator to make room for the ovens and new refrigerator, and of course all of the soffits above the existing cabinets. I will incorporate a new tall pantry with heavy duty roll out shelves. New L.E.D. recessed lighting will be installed along with under and over cabinet lighting which will also illuminate the interiors of the glass door cabinets. I am adding an additional pendant to match existing over island and a new one over the main Farm Sink. I will be replacing the cabinets in the Laundry Room, carrying through the Kitchen style as well as the Powder Room vanity to match the darker finished island, new mirror, light fixture, in wall faucets, Quartzite countertop, and white porcelain sink.

Detailed appointments include a seven piece trim design above cabinets, 5" table legs at ends of Beverage Bar & Island, corbels, bumped out stove top cabinet and bar sink, staggered cabinet heights, darker island cabinet finish, commercial pull down kitchen faucet with pot filler. I am removing the half wall between the kitchen and Family Room and having a scrolled iron railing fabricated to replace 88" of it from 109".

Below are "before" pictures of existing kitchen and Family Room (to be renovated in 2017) I am currently in the process of finishing the kitchen and will post "after" pictures soon.
