Looking for some design advice for bathroom niche mosaic tile

We are almost done with tiling an alcove bathtub/shower and trying to choose a mosaic tile for the back of the niche. The shower walls are a 12x24 Gascogne Beige Limestone and we are thinking of going with a mother of pearl mosaic. The niche and window are being lined with a slightly lighter Mocha Cream Limestone that is 3/4" thick. There will be a shelf a third of the way down inside the niche.

We are trying to decide on a mother of pearl mosaic pattern, so thought I'd post here to see what people had to say. There are very few photos I could find online of shell tile in a bathroom to help us visualize and decide.

I've attached a photo of our bathtub, as well as some photos of the niche with some mosaics I quickly pasted in. Color and size are probably not accurate as I pulled the images off the web. The only pattern we have a sample of at home is the brick pattern.

Advice advice and feedback appreciated and if anyone has photos of mother of pearl in use they could share that would be great too!

GREAT limestone; I love it! Personally I like the mosaic with the brown in it, for what it's worth. Good luck!

THank you! It's our first DIY tiling project and it's been quite the learning experience. lol I like when it has the brown as well. Many of the patterns I've found come in 3 shades, mostly white, more natural, and a dark color. I think when it is mostly white it's a little too iridescent.

I really like the two options that are small rectangles, which seem to match the style of your larger tiles better. The square and geometric shapes don't blend well style wise with your limestone. Make sure you use a good stone cleaner/disinfectant on your limestone to avoid mold in the crevices.

Thank you calidesign and chiflipper for your input! My hubby wanted a mosaic that was more modern and geometric with metal pieces. I didn't like it and was really liking the idea of the mother of pearl, which of course he didn't like. sigh... So those geometric patterns were the closest thing I could find in MOP. Thankfully I think he is coming around, today he agreed the geometric ones didn't work and didn't care what I picked.

Chiflipper thanks for the kudos! It's been an exhausting process to try and make sure we do everything right. We did a lot of homework and it's been a challenge, but rewarding as well. I also like the tile you suggested and will be seriously considering it!

calidesign thank you, I will definitely make sure to use a good stone cleaner. This limestone seems pretty dense compared to others, so hopefully it won't be too hard to keep clean. Fingers crossed!
