Potential Fixer Upper

Ok y'all we found this character filled home, but are stuck on the Oklahoma Red/Gold flagstone exterior. We know painting it would only take away the history and originality.

We were thinking of doing some light wood shingles in the peaks and using cedar to update the pillars, adding some lighting.

Ideas for the exterior? Ideas for the landscaping (yes we would like to keep the bridge ;) )

I would not add shingles in the peaks. I think you need to simplify the front by either adding matching stone in the peaks or doing a smooth stucco finish or batten board. The way the peaks are now dates the home. Take a look at this inspiration pic. Considerations:

1. Going with dark trim
2. Beefing up the columns, adding stone and maybe a railing
3. False balcony under window
4. Mustache pergolas over window and garage
5. Standing seam roof
6. Bridge railing is very imposing - maybe iron
7. Adding exterior lighting
8. Edge the landscape bed with white/gray stone
