Need ideas for siding options

We have lived here 2 years. Making changes inside. Need help with outside now. We hate the half brick, half white vinyl siding. Paint the brick? Paint the vinyl a color in the brick? Please help us.

As a brick manufacturer, we love the look of the natural brick and its durability. However, if you do decide to paint the brick, please be prepared for increased maintenance. According to The Brick Industry Association, “Most paint authorities agree that, once painted, exterior masonry will require repainting every three to five years.”

You might think about toning down the starkness of the siding by pulling the tan color out of the brick. I would also recommend adding shutters to the windows.

I agree with Triangle Brick Company to paint the siding rather than the brick.
I would try to make the garage door "disappear" into the brick by using a grayed terra cotta color paint. I might also use this color under the bay window.

The rest of the siding could be a tan color from the brick.

If you choose to add shutters, please make them functional with hinges and shutter dog closures. I would paint my shutters the same as the roof color.

I like the brick color, if the siding is painted a deeper color, perhaps a sage green, it will help unify the facade while maintaining the horizontal separation. I'm troubled by the large expanses of wall with no windows. I think adding some will break up the blandness of the upper story and bring light into the interior as well.

I wouldn't paint the brick. The contrast between your white and brick is too stark. I think you'd do much better with a softer color and trim in a darker shade.

I would agree that the brick should not be painted out, however putting a slightly darker color on top would help soften the look. You could also attach some faux shutters with a darker trim. I would also work with some landscaping to bring in some taller plants and trees to break up that large bare area in the wall.

I love the ideas, please keep them coming. We never thought of painting the siding a sage color, Ironwood Builders. Any ideas for the grayed terra cotta color, Eztia?

Ideas for grayed terra cotta color for the siding.
Find a paint chip very close to the terra cotta color in your bricks. A perfect match is desirable, but improbable. Get a paint chip that matches the mortar. See if you can get sample pots of these two colors. Mix them, 50/50 to start, keeping notes, until you get the "right" color.

Then find a paint chip that is the "just right " color you combined with your sample pots. Buy a quart of the stuff and try it out on the siding. Okay? Great! Go buy however many gallons you will need, plus a bit
    extra.

If the quart of paint is just a ghastly color, you might be able to have the paint color adjusted at the paint store. Otherwise, it is time to start the steps again.
